Every year in September presidents and presidents-elect from HFMA Chapters throughout the country gather together for the Fall Presidents Meeting or FPM — to expand their knowledge base and skill sets and share best practices for how to run a successful chapter. Chapter leaders engage with a broad agenda, including reviews of HFMA metrics, member recruitment and retention, volunteer engagement, succession planning, building partnerships, enhancing sponsorship, the Yerger Award and more.
The 2016 Fall Presidents Meeting event was held September 18-20th at the gracious and elegant Peabody Hotel in Memphis, TN. (You may have heard of the famous Peabody Memphis Ducks. Fun fact: Ducks were not the first residents of The Peabody’s lobby fountain. Rumor has it that turtles and baby alligators each briefly graced the fountain in the 1920s.)
Chapter presidents and presidents-elect shared timely ideas about educational content, social media platforms and member communication, women in leadership, early careerists, and provider/payor support within the chapter. They also shared some good times featuring music, BBQ and networking at the historic Beale Street.
The Fall Presidents Meeting is a great mix of learning from National and sharing with colleagues – in Region 8 and beyond. It’s also a great opportunity for Chapters and Regions to make their voices heard at the National level.
