The 2016 HFMA Leadership Training Conference (also known as LTC) was held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in April. In attendance from the Sunflower Chapter were President Josh Honn, President-Elect Laraine Gengler, Secretary Danica Case, Treasurer Allison Swaters, Membership Committee Chair Nikki Esquibel and Communications Committee Chair Patrick Whisennand.
LTC offers Sunflower Chapter attendees a variety of learning and team building events as well as opportunities to network with peers, HFMA staff and sponsors — from traditional sessions to topical roundtables. LTC develops the leadership skills and practical working knowledge needed to help Chapter Officers and select committee chairs become better leaders.
At this year’s event, the Kansas delegation participated in numerous “learning labs” and then broke into learning activities oriented by leadership track. The General Session keynote speaker was 2017 National Chairperson, Mary Mirabelli, who unveiled her National Chairperson’s Theme for the year: “THRIVE”. Mary spoke to many of the challenges that our membership knows all too well. She reminded us that where there are challenges, there are great opportunities to THRIVE and to push ourselves to new limits.
“My fourth and final LTC as a Sunflower Officer didn’t disappoint. Another great conference to prepare our committee members with all the tools and resources to ensure we serve our membership to highest standards,” said 2016-2017 KSHFMA President, Josh Honn.
