The fourth Annual HFMA Region 8 Mid-America Summer Institute was held August 24th – August 26th, 2016 at the Marriott City Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Nearly two dozen healthcare finance industry leaders presented on finance and revenue cycle topics with concurrent sessions offered in two tracks: Financial Leaders and Enhancing Revenue and Reimbursement. Topics ranged from “Advanced Leadership Skills for Finance Directors and Managers in a Time of Cost Containment” to “Best Practices for Improving The Patient Financial Experience.”
Dr. Jonathan Burroughs’ 35-plus years of experience as an emergency physician, manager and leader were on display with wit and wisdom in Thursday’s General Session Keynote: Creating a 21st Century Vision – What We Can Learn From the Aviation Industry.
A group outing to Target Field for a Minnesota Twins baseball game capped Wednesday’s activities. Thursday evening’s networking was reception was lively.
On the final day, participants honed in on the healthcare political landscape and participated in a Health Care Finance Hot Topics Forum.
MASI 2016 concluded with a presentation from Kristina Wegger, senior associate director for federal relations at the American Hospital Association.
